Behind Marbella's glitzy beach resorts lies a humble past. Years ago, the town's main source of revenue was the fishing industry and locals still acknowledge this today with the annual Fiesta del Cármen, honouring the patron saint of seafarers.
Every year on the 16 July the Vírgen del Cármen is taken aboard a boat for a procession around the beach and then paraded through the town.
