Estival Jazz is southern Switzerland's premier musical event. Open-air concerts fill the heart of Lugano (2-4 July), on the beautiful 19th-century Piazza della Riforma, and the nearby town of Mendrisio, on architect Mario Botta's Piazzale alla Valle (26 & 27 June).
The event attracts thousands of jazz fans each year and all concerts are totally free! Miles Davies, Dizzy Gillespie, Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente and BB King are just some of the many artists that have appeared at the event since 1979.
