Jordan Archaeological Museum
Situated on Amman's Citadel Hill, this small museum has an excellent collection of Jordanian antiquities, dating from prehistoric times to the 15th century.
Don't miss the collection of Dead Sea bronze scrolls, found in 1952 (one of which tells of treasure hidden on the west bank of the River Jordan), the copy of the Mesha Stele or Stone, erected by the Moabite King Mesha in 850BC to celebrate his victories over the Israelites, and the four rare Iron-Age sarcophagi, of cocoon-like design, which give an insight into ancient burial practices.
