Dubai's oldest building, Al Fahidi Fort in Bur Dubai, built in 1787, now houses the Dubai Museum. A collection of artefacts depicts the social and economic life of Dubai before oil was discovered and includes 4000-year-old archaeological objects.
Along with pottery, metallic items, stone engravings and skeletons discovered during digs in the Emirate of Dubai, the museum boasts a large section devoted to musical instruments and one to deadly weaponry, including curved daggers (hanjars), swords, spears and shields made of sharkskin.

There is also a model of a wind-tower room, showing diagrams and photographs of different types of wind towers.
