Hundreds of craftsmen - ceramicists, woodturners, even fashion designers - gather every year in the Emerald Coast town of Saint Briac sur Mer to exhibit their talents at the vast Festival Saint-Simon at Saint-Briac.
More than 15,000 people descend on this pretty town to peruse the diverse stalls, cruise the exhibitions and watch the artisans at work. Food stalls sell traditional Breton gastronomy including cheese, snails and the delicious Breton Gateau - a version of apple pie made with the local butter and plenty of rum.
Throughout the day the streets are filled with strolling musicians, Breton bands play in the many marquees and street performers keep the crowds amused, so the enormous market becomes a spectacle in itself.
