The Santa Cristina Festivities honour Lloret de Mar's patron saint with processions, parties and fireworks. On 24 July (the official saint's day), a spectacular maritime procession featuring religious icons and decorated boats sails out to the Santa Cristina Hermitage.
The townspeople arrive ahead of the boats at Santa Cristina Beach so they can shout "S'amorra s'amorra" (no-one knows quite what this means) when the bows of the boats hit the sand. Back in Lloret de Mar, people head to the Placa de l'Ajuntament for the Dansa d'Almorratxes, a special folkloric dance.
