At carnival time the people of Loulé really let rip and stage a lively event with plenty of floats, fancy dress, parades and parties, mostly along the Avenida José da Costa Mealha.
In the past few years the Loulé carnival has had a makeover. After a period of decline the programme was carefully planned by a committee and given the theme of Paz, Amor e Carinho (Peace, Love and Affection), pulling the community together, meeting with great success and providing a precedent for the future.
