The people of Munich love swimming pools and the city provides a variety of unusual swimming places. In the depths of winter, one of the most special is Dantebad, an outdoor pool warm enough to enjoy even when the snow falls.
All through the winter months, the main pool is kept at 30°C, with a lounging pool at 34°C. If this still isn't hot enough for you, there's a sauna installation as well, along with that inevitable accessory in Munich, a beer garden, handy in the summer season (the pool is open all year round).
The Dante complex consists of five different swimming pools, including a special wellness and fun pool and a nudist section. The pools recently underwent a five-million euro refit which improved the whole swimming area but especially the children's area which is now bigger and better. It draws a cross-section of the population, some of whom choose to swim or sun themselves topless or in the most minimal of bathing costumes. For the kids there is a snack stand with a vast assortment of sweets.
