More than 1500 international cookery books go under the judicial eye at the International Cook Book Fair, held at the Nouveau Théâtre d'Aquitaine and the Musée d'Art et d'Archéologie in Périgueux.
Some 200 recipe writers converge on the town to sample its cèpes (wild mushrooms), poulettes (stuffed fillets of poultry) and truffles, and above all to catch the latest developments in cookery editorial. The Salon includes special symposiums and dinners featuring both regional and international cuisine, so visitors also get to rub shoulders with hot chefs from all over the globe and to taste their creations.
The winning writers are announced on the last day of the fair. Until then visiting gourmands can take advantage of cookery demonstrations and symposiums on every imaginable food.
