Los Cristianos stages one of Tenerife's smaller carnival celebrations, but that's not to say you should overlook it.
Los Cristianos, like many of the island's carnival towns, copes quite comfortably dealing with some of the overflow from the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The main events include the masked ball, the children's carnival queen celebrations and the cabalgata, a parade with horses.
Celebrants, clad in the ridiculous, the daring and the unashamedly outrageous, converge on the streets and squares to the rhythms of congas, sambas, rumbas and the more traditional Spanish zarzuela - providing a good chance to take in some songs and dances indigenous to the island.
