If crowds are not your thing and you want to see in the New Year in style, then head for the New Year Ball at the Palais am Funkturm in Berlin.
Berliners like their New Year Balls, of which there are many around the city, but the party at the Palais (the main venue at the Funkturm, Berlin's radio tower) is probably the best of them. Built to resemble the Eiffel Tower, the Funkturm has hosted New Year's Eve celebrations since the mid-1950s.
The New Year Ball at Berlin's Palais am Funkturm is not strictly-speaking a black-tie do, but by long-standing tradition people do tend to dress up. Please visit the Capital Services website for ticket information.
