One of the most beautiful historical buildings in central Italy, Teatro Verdi is also Pisa's main centre of cultural life. It boasts state-of-the-art equipment, hosting ballet and theatre performances, concerts, opera and other activities, such as seminars and workshops.
Teatro Verdi was inaugurated in 1867, and since 1979 the activities held here have been organised and run by the Pisa Theatre Foundation, a conglomerate of various government agencies. In the late 1980s, the building underwent a series of renovations and refurbishments and now it features 900 seats, divided between five tiers and the orchestra.
The opera season runs from the end of September until spring, while plays and dance productions start in November and continue until May. For full details of the programme, please visit the Teatro Verdi website.
