The Zurich Open tennis tournament sees 32 women battle it out on their own and 16 pairs as a team at Zurich's Hallenstadion. A fixture on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, top tennis stars compete for a share of US$600,000.
First staged in 1984, the event is one of the nine elite Tier 1 tournaments on the women's circuit, and has taken place in Zurich since 1997.
The presence of top players, the high quality matches, an attractive programme of parallel events, a well-established cooperation with business and an infrastructure which has improved year by year has brought the tournament international recognition.
