The mid-Wales market town of Brecon hosts the vibrant Brecon Jazz festival each year, featuring live jazz from trad to free. Performances take place at Theatre Brycheiniog and the Cathedral.
Highlights of 25 concerts over the weekend include South African pianist Abdullah Ibrahim, leading UK saxophonist Courtney Pine, Tunisian oud master Anouar Brahem and Cameroonian sax and vibes player Manu Dibango.
The event also features fireworks on Friday, a jazz carnival parade on Saturday and a jazz service on Sunday. In 2009 the event takes place on a smaller scale before returning as a fully fledged festival in 2010.
