As part of the countrywide tour, Dunedin hosts its leg of the New Zealand Film Festival, which visits 15 different towns and cities. The screenings draw on the same stock of around 120 full-length film features and even more shorts.
The screening programme takes in the highlights of a wide range of international festivals and does a very good job of balancing the film buff's wish list with the needs of more mainstream audiences.
