Music professionals assemble for one of the industry's most important trade fairs, Popkomm, held at Messe Berlin. While the suits are busy networking, ordinary punters flock to the showcases, which offer more than 400 bands the chance to impress.
Begun in 1989, the event has established itself as one of the biggest get-togethers in the music industry calendar, with more than 16,000 professionals in attendance, including an ever-growing international audience.
Gigs take place over three nights and attract some 80,000 music lovers to dozens of Berlin clubs, hopeful of catching the next big thing.
