The annual Heineken Jazzfest brings together some of the biggest names in Latin jazz at the Tito Puente Amphitheater in San Juan. Puerto Rico is a hotbed of salsa and merengue and the island has a rich musical culture.
The 2009 Jazzfest pays tribute to virtuoso Latin jazz percussionist and conga maestro Giovanni Hidalgo, who performed at the inaugural 1991 edition and has appeared five times since.
