The three main squares in Stuttgart - Marktplatz, Schillerplatz and Schlossplatz - form a triangle of Christmas cheer when the 200+ stalls of the Stuttgart Christmas Market come to town. Each year almost four million visitors do their Christmas shopping here.
First mentioned in a document in 1692, this Christmas market traditionally opens at the end of November with a ceremonial concert in the courtyard of the Altes Schloß. The stalls offer everything from Christmas decorations, toys and woodcuts to jewellery, and of course mulled wine, waffles and sausages to sustain you as you shop.
