Artist Paul Klee was also an accomplished violinist, a big opera fan and a music critic. The Museum der Moderne on the Mönchsberg hosts Paul Klee - Melody, Rhythm, Dance, an exhibition exploring his passion for and conflict with music.
The exhibition features 80-100 pieces in which Klee used musical aspects structurally or thematically. The focus is on pieces from the collection of the Zentrum Paul Klee in Berne, but other works are also taken from other museums and private collections.
The exhibition is also supported by material from Klee's time at the Bauhaus - small pieces of work which offer an insight into the theoretical occupation of the artist on the topic of music.
