Not so much a parade as those associated with other gay festivals, Antwerp Pride takes over the entire city for a four-day extravaganza, with activities in clubs, restaurants, cafés and even galleries and museums.
Discounts, welcome gifts at a number of hotels, special brunches and menus or complimentary champagne glasses are all little attentions that the city of Antwerp bestows upon its holebi population during the Pride. Then there are also countless parties over the four days; the Cafe de Love party, Crazy Hour, the very A Hard Night and a string of after-parties. If you're visiting for the event, hop on the free Gay City Tour Bus, which departs at 7 and 8pm from the Popi Café at 12, Plantinkaai, in the centre of town.
But the event-within-the-event not to miss is surely Navigaytion, held on the Saturday. From 3pm onwards, Antwerp's river Scheldt welcomes 10 party boats, each with a different theme, while back on dry land, a street fair, food stalls, open-air stages and DJs are set up for a gigantic gay celebration.
Please check the event's website for details on all of the Antwerp Pride activities.
