One of France's oldest and most famous music festivals, the Transmusicales in Rennes combines big names with young hopefuls to provide an eclectic bill. The festival shifts away from summer's outdoor format, spreading itself across indoor venues across town.
Bringing in bands and artists from around the world, the event is also a high point for the buzzing local music scene: the early days of the festival brought such French luminaries as Niagara and Dominique A to a wider audience.
