Get yourself fit for the Lisbon Half Marathon, the largest in the world. The race starts in Almada on the south side of the 25 de Abril bridge and there's also a mini-marathon for those that can't manage 13 miles.
The route crosses the bridge, follows the river Tagus eastwards then turns around and ends in Belém at the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos - the beautiful cathedral built by King Manuel I in the 16th century. The mini marathon crosses the bridge and heads straight to Belém.
