The Aarhus Festival's extensive cultural programme is made up of several hundred performances and events in a wide range of disciplines, including drama, opera, dance, classical/contemporary music, sport, exhibitions and film.
Founded in 1965, the festival has a very wide artistic remit and an imaginative approach to programming. Over the years it has played host to luminaries in many fields, ranging from Birgit Nilsson and The Rolling Stones to Simon Rattle and Gunter Grass. It also puts a praiseworthy emphasis on bringing in less well-known artists and performers from all over the world.
The festival website publishes full details of the programme as soon as they are available.
