Acclaimed writers of verse from Latin America are joined by poets from all over the globe at the yearly Medellín International Poetry Festival. Artists give readings of their work in the city's streets and squares and other venues.
This year there are readings by over 60 poets from all corners of the world, such as Tahar Bekri from Tunisia, Zinzi Mandela (Nelson Mandela's daughter) from South Africa, Fuad Rifka from Lebanon, Édouard Glissant from Martinique, Jack Hirshman from the USA and Giovanni Quessep from Colombia itself.
Performers are for the most part contemporary, but be ready for a few surprises. For full details of the programme, please visit the festival website.
