The Zero Latitude Film Festival - so called because of its equatorial location in Quito - aims to promote Spanish-American cinema. Thought-provoking independent art house films are screened at cinemas in Ecuador's capital city.
The festival concentrates on shorts, student-film, animation, videos and feature-length films from across the Spanish-speaking world. More than 100 films are shown and this year the event pays special attention to Mexican cinema.

Those who want to get more involved can participate in numerous workshops, and there are also special open-air screenings for children. Venues include Cinemark (Plaza de las Américas), Cine Ocho y Medio, Centro Cultural La Casa de al Lado, la Alianza Francesa and the Sala Alfredo Pareja of the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana.

Please visit the festival website for full details of the programme.
