For one week each summer, the year in Visby on the isle of Gotland is 1361... Historical plays, music, markets, tournaments and costume parades are just some of the ingredients of the annual Medieval Week.
Locals go the whole hog, dressing up in historic costumes, and armoured knights participate in jousting tournaments. There's a general carnival feel - a mixture of education, drunkenness and a lot of noise.
