The Tennis Masters Cup brings together the eight best players of the season for a final showdown at the Qi Zhong stadium in Shanghai. Roger Federer beat David Ferrer in straight sets in 2007 to win his fourth Masters Cup title in five years.
The players are divided into two groups of four, and play round-robin matches against the others in their group. The top two from each group contest the semi-finals, with the winners meeting in the final to determine the champion.

Aside from the Grand Slams, the ATP Masters Series is the highest-ranking tennis competition in the world. Its tournaments attract the cream of the sport's elite as they vie for the coveted title of world number one. The series includes four tournaments in North America and five in Europe, culminating in the season-ending Tennis Masters Cup, which moves from Shanghai to London's O2 arena in 2009.
