The Tour continues with the second part of the Pyrenees stages between Orthez and Gourette, with four formidable climbs and a tough finish at the summit of the Col de l'Aubisque. It's the final leg of the six mountain stages in the 2007 race.
The charming medieval market town of Othez is situated around the Pont Vieux (old bridge), that used to be a vital crossing for pilgrims. Having survived several wars, the bridge is seen as as a symbol or resistance and strength. With a huge and sun-trapped lake, life in Orthez is tranquil, centered around the Tuesday market, where many types of foie-gras, Bayonne hams and other local delicacies can be enjoyed.
