The Ponte Vecchio International Approach Championship is a golf competition held on a platform under the central arch of the Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence. Sixteen professional players have six shots per match to hit three floating greens.
The greens are positioned at various distances from the bridge, with each having a points value that reflects its degree of difficulty - from the closest, worth two points, to the furthest, worth seven. Huge TV screens are set up at locations around the city, giving the public the opportunity to follow the competition. The winners of the Ponte Vecchio International Approach Championship walk away with substantial prize money.
