Where:
Cozumel
On 15 September, the night before Independence Day, crowds surround the City Hall in Cozumel and follow the lead of the mayor on the balcony in belting out "Viva México". The traditional 11pm "grito" heralds an explosion of fireworks.
Independence Day itself brings music and dance shows and a lively parade along the downtown waterfront.
