The Rome Film Festival encompasses screenings, exhibitions, meetings, concerts and much more. The focal point of the festival is the Auditorium Parco della Musica, but celebrations also take place at venues in Via Veneto, Cinecitta, Piazza del Popolo and beyond.
The festival has five main sections. Première is the non-competitive red carpet event dedicated to international first releases, with their stars and directors in attendance. Alice in the City is a festival within the festival for young filmgoers, children and teenagers, while Focus is a cross-disciplinary series of events. A third section, Cinema 2009, focuses on the best independent international productions, while Extra supports new forms of expression by showing films, video games, documentaries and video clips that capture new trends in filmmaking.
Paulo Coelho has confirmed his attendance at the 2009 edition, which screens the world première of his new film The Experimental Witch Project.
