The sleepy village of San Pedro de Atacama retains charmingly tranquil despite the steady stream of tourists. It stands at 2450 metres above sea level in the middle of one of the driest places in the world, the Atacama Desert.
Be sure to have a torch with you when visiting the village as all electricity is cut off early in the evening.
