The Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest, housed in the former Buda Palace, offers a vast collection of art ranging from the medieval period to the 20th century.
Originally founded during the great reform of the 19th century, the Hungarian National Gallery moved to its current location in Budapest in 1975. Highlights include a comprehensive collection of Hungarian 19th-century masters including Károly Ferenczy, Mihály Munkácsy and Pál Szinyei Merse. The permanent exhibition features a medieval and renaissance stone store, late Gothic altars and a range of contemporary art.
