Manhattan's vast Central Park, over 2.5 miles long, would take several days to explore fully. Locals love ice-skating in winter, boating in summer and cycling or rollerblading all year. Other relaxing places include the secluded conservatory and the Victorian Belvedere Castle.
In addition, there are numerous beautiful statues in the park, as well as the oldest public monument in North America, a public swimming pool and a zoo as well as numerous different types of landscaped garden (all designed by Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted).

It has hosted huge concerts by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Elton John and Dave Matthews and has even seen an appearance by Pope John Paul II, who celebrated mass here in 1995.
