The Pan Pacific Masters Games attracts over 10,000 athletes to the Gold Coast, each hoping to take home a winning medal. There are 34 sports to choose from, including athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, dragon boats, martial arts and touch football.
The average age of entry into the Masters Games is 30 years, although it does vary from sport to sport. Each sport is broken into age categories, usually in spans of five years, so everyone can test themselves against similarly-aged competitors. There are no qualifying times or ranks, so if you're old enough, then you're good enough. Athletes must register and details are on the website.
As ever, there is nightly entertainment at the Games Village, which in 2008 was located in the Gold Coast Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Please visit the Games' website for details of all events and how to register.
