With around 30 international feature films and many more shorts and videos, Tampa Bay is now host to the sixth-largest gay and lesbian film event in the US, held at the Tampa Theatre.
The festival was founded as a three-day event in the early 1990s by the Tampa Bay Business Guild and the Gay Men's Chorus. These days it lasts 11 days and draws crowds of 15,000 or more. The magnificent Tampa Theatre is an historic movie palace (a National Heritage Site) and has remained the home of the festival since its inception.
