Otavalo's Market, known locally as the Feria Sabatina, is one of the most important indigenous markets in Latin America. It is held every day in Poncho Plaza and in the surrounding streets.
The market, which is at its biggest on Saturday, attracts crowds of tourists and locals each week to buy thick Andean jumpers, ponchos, alpaca coats, musical instruments, jewellery and art and craft products from all over Ecuador. There is also a wide selection of the coloured textiles and weavings for which Otavalo is famous. Be ready for a spot of bartering to get yourself a good price.
