Every year since 1954, Split Summer Festival has taken over the historic city centre, entertaining the crowds with exhibitions, opera, concerts, dance and street theatre.
The festival combines traditional and contemporary culture, both Croatian and European, with performances by national and international artists. The best drama and musical performances are awarded the Judita prize by the daily newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija, and there is also a youth award. Full details can be found on the festival's website.
