Encounters is the annual South African International Documentary Film Festival, with screenings and workshops for aspiring film-makers at Johannesburg's Hyde Park NU Metro. A discussion programme offers the chance to explore many of the works on show with their creators.
As well as screening a broad range of local and international documentary works, the festival offers a film laboratory at which first-time film-makers are given the opportunity to learn from working with experienced directors.
