Local knowledge

If you're tired of sightseeing buses with tour guides rambling on in 10 languages, take the Number 1 tram along the Ring. For less than a pound you tour around the very centre of Vienna and experience famous baroque and neo-classical buildings such as the Parliament, the Opera House and town hall. You can't miss visiting Vienna's famous Kaffeehaeuser (cafes) - Cafe Central, Cafe Gerstner or Cafe Gloriette are some of the best. A trip to Vienna is not complete without visiting a Heuriger, or wine bar, - the best ones are to be found in the Grinzing area of town.
